what is ceramic coating?

More than just a shine.

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied by hand to your vehicle's exterior surfaces. Once cured, it chemically bonds with the factory paint to create a durable, hydrophobic layer of protection.

Unlike wax or sealant, which sit on top of the paint and wear off within weeks, a ceramic coating becomes part of the surface itself. It repels water, resists contamination, blocks UV damage, and makes routine washing significantly easier.

Why Phil Chose Nanolex

Phil has tested ceramic coatings from dozens of manufacturers over two decades. Nanolex consistently delivers the highest hardness, the deepest gloss, and the longest-lasting hydrophobic performance of any coating he's used.

Engineered in Germany, Nanolex coatings bond at a molecular level to create a semi-permanent layer of protection that won't wash away. Phil uses Nanolex because it performs the way he promises his clients it will.

Why Ceramic Coating

Protection that works at the molecular level.

Professional ceramic coatings create a permanent bond with your paint, providing years of protection that wax and sealants simply can't match.

Multi-Year Durability

Unlike wax that lasts weeks, professional ceramic coating bonds permanently to your paint. With proper maintenance, protection lasts 3-7+ years.

Chemical Resistance

Resists bird droppings, tree sap, bug acids, and road chemicals that etch into unprotected paint. The coating takes the hit, not your clear coat.

UV Protection

Blocks UV rays that cause paint oxidation and fading. Your color stays deep and vibrant even after years of sun exposure.

Hydrophobic Surface

Water sheets off the surface, taking dirt and contaminants with it. Your car stays cleaner longer, and washing becomes dramatically easier.

Enhanced Gloss

Ceramic coating amplifies the depth and clarity of your paint. After proper correction and coating, your car looks better than the day you bought it.

Value Preservation

Protected paint means higher resale value. A properly coated and maintained vehicle shows dramatically less wear than an unprotected one.

What Our Clients Say

"Three years in and the coating still beads like day one. Washing takes half the time, and the paint looks deeper than it did off the lot. Phil is meticulous and it shows."

Beyond Paint

Ceramic coating isn't just for paint.

Phil coats every surface that benefits from hydrophobic protection and UV resistance.

Wheels & Calipers

Brake dust, road grime, and tar wash off coated wheels with minimal effort. Keeps your wheels looking clean between washes.

Glass

Coated glass repels water at highway speed without wipers. Dramatically improves visibility in rain and makes cleaning effortless.

Trim & Plastics

Black trim stays black. Coated plastic and rubber resist UV fading and maintain their factory appearance for years.

Leather

Interior leather coating resists stains, dye transfer, and UV damage. Makes spills easy to clean and extends the life of your seats.

Exhaust Tips

Coated exhaust tips resist carbon buildup and discoloration. A quick wipe keeps them looking polished without harsh chemicals.

PPF Top Coat

Ceramic coating applied over paint protection film adds hydrophobic properties and enhances gloss. The ideal combination for maximum protection.
aftercare

The reward is the simplicity.

A ceramic coating changes the way you maintain your car. Washing becomes faster, contamination doesn't stick the way it used to, and your paint keeps its depth year after year. A few small habits separate a coating that looks great for two years from one that performs for seven.

01
Let it cure.

Give the coating 7 days before its first wash. The polymer is still bonding in the first week, and pressure or chemicals introduced too early can compromise the final hardness.

02
Hand wash only.

Automated brush washes and high-pressure tunnels introduce swirl marks and strip the top layer over time. Stick to a two-bucket method with a pH-neutral shampoo and a clean microfiber mitt.

03
Rinse after rain.

Mineral deposits in rainwater can etch into any surface if left to bake in the sun. A quick rinse, even at a self-serve bay, prevents most water spots before they form.

04
Skip the wax.

Traditional waxes and polishes sit on top of the coating and dull its hydrophobic performance. If the coating loses some slickness, a dedicated ceramic boost spray restores it in minutes.

Not sure where your coating stands? Phil offers a complimentary coating health check. Bring the car in and he'll assess the condition, flag any bonded contamination, and tell you honestly if a refresh is worth it.

Common Questions

Everything you want to know about ceramic coatings.

If your question isn't here, Phil is always happy to talk through it in a consultation.
How long does ceramic coating last?+
Ceramic coatings last anywhere from 2 to 5 years depending on the tier, how the car is maintained, and how often it's driven. Phil will recommend the right tier based on your situation.
Does my car need paint correction first?+
In most cases, yes. Ceramic coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Swirl marks, light scratches, and water spots need to be removed before coating or they will be permanently sealed in.
Can I wash my car normally after coating?+
Yes, but touchless or hand washing is recommended. Avoid automatic brush car washes as they can introduce swirl marks and degrade the coating over time. Phil recommends specific maintenance products to keep your coating performing at its best.
Is ceramic coating the same as a paint sealant or wax?+
No. Wax and sealants sit on top of the paint and wear off quickly. Ceramic coating chemically bonds to the paint surface, creating a semi-permanent layer of protection that is far harder and more durable than any wax or sealant.
Can ceramic coating be applied over PPF?+
Yes, and it is actually the best combination. PPF handles physical impact protection while ceramic coating on top adds chemical resistance, enhanced gloss, and makes the surface much easier to clean and maintain.
What affects the price of ceramic coating?+
Vehicle size, paint condition, the level of paint correction needed, and the coating tier you choose all factor into the price. Phil provides a clear quote after a quick assessment with no hidden fees.
